Mission: A world powered 100% by renewables.
Locogen is a renewable energy consultancy and developer. They manage and develop renewable energy projects including Wind, Solar, Battery Storage (BESS) and Hydrogen with a HQ in Edinburgh and an office in France.
We were approached by Andy the CEO who was recommended our service. Andy had ambitious growth plans but their approach of using multiple recruitment agencies wasn’t working how he would like. He wanted someone to really take control of recruitment for the business, advise, bring ideas and make everything work well so that The Senior Management Team could get on and do what they best – building a renewable future.
This would be our first time hiring for a renewable energy team. We were confident that we could use our expertise in improving recruitment processes and headhunting people with niche skills who will be a good fit for our clients cultures in a new sector. We became Locogen’s embedded talent team.
Journey growing a renewable energy consultancy.
We started working with Locogen in September 2023 joining as an established consultancy of 35 people. Our first hire was an internationally experienced Finance Director, followed rapidly by several key positions across the whole business. People work hybrid from the Edinburgh HQ or Remote.
The Conga service began with exploration of what was working, what wasn’t and why. We engrained ourselves in the culture and organisation. Getting to know everyone, what they did and their personalities. We set up the platforms and procedures, negotiated the platform contracts and rewrote adverts, hiring collateral, emails and social posts.
Initially we worked directly with the CEO and the Senior Management Team on every position. Working together to get the key roles in place. As things progressed we recruited a new Head of People, People Advisor and a Divisional Director of Consulting to the team. We now work alongside the People Team, Senior Management Team and the Hiring Managers to find the right people for their roles.
We run the whole process from working out what skills and type of person we need through headhunting, screening, interview set up, feedback, offer and hire.

What we all achieved.
In the first 2 years we have hired 39 people, including permanent and contract specialist hires across every department from Finance and People to Engineering to Asset Management to Sales and Marketing across all career levels from the Senior Management Team to Principal, Senior, consultant level and graduates.
We are most proud of:. Finding every hire, across all departments, without any agency help saving considerable amounts on recruitment spend. Andy’s feedback that we have absolutely transformed their ability to hire and their process. The feedback we get from candidates is fantastic and diversity has improved.
